Last year I unintentionally started a Year of Yes, and it was the toughest yet most fulfilling year of my life. I had to learn to be brave, and selfish, and comfortable with being uncomfortable. And for the first time in my life I was choosing myself, despite doubt or opinion from others. Through that year of yes, I garnered self-love and self-appreciation. And I found the woman within me that all of my no’s had been holding me back from. Although that year is over, I remind myself to carry those lessons earned (not learned) with me at all times. Even if it’s a seemingly small notion like using the best body masks as a reminder that every part of me needs love. That journey is one I’ll never forget, and has led me to freedom through creative expression, self-admiration, and incomparable joy.
If I could summarize last year it would be that freely expressing and exploring your complete self leads towards your purpose, a greater divine love, and an unbreakable self-loving spirit. All of which are things that I desperately needed, unbeknownst to me. I thought I loved myself, until I had to confront the fears that weighed me down like a ball and chain. Then when circumstances in life, or God’s divine intervention, pushed me to seek more I realized that I was hiding the most beautiful parts of myself. But I’ve learned that every part of me has the potential to be beautiful if I make sure to give it the care, attention, support, and love that it needs. From reading books to exercise my mind, to exfoliating my butt with the best body masks, or whatever else I do. It all matters; it all serves the greater purpose.
