I used to always feel guilty about spending money on myself, until I realized that was dumb. Especially when I noticed that I wouldn’t bat an eye at the amount I spent on gifts for others. Which was an interesting revelation because I preach self-love, yet I was subconsciously valuing others more than I valued myself. Their happiness and smiles mattered more than my own. I think the underlying issue was a feeling that I wasn’t worth the expensive treat, and that I had more important things to spend the money on. The latter is true in most instances, but my happiness should be counted on my list of important things. And if I put happiness and self-care as a priority, there’s no way the universe will punish me for that. So I’m making the conscious decision to drop self-imposed guilt.
