I can’t sing, but I’m beautiful, talented, confident, and I leave a trail of glitter when I walk into rooms. This means I’m basically Beyoncé. And it’s time to give everyone (myself included) a reminder. Lately stress in the workplace and dating woes has had my self-esteem running low. And I’ve just been barely dragging myself out of bed in the mornings. Because I’ve been down and not putting effort into my appearance, I was starting to look how I was feeling. And who wants to look like a sad puppy? I needed to snap out of my feelings and get my confidence back. I know life gets hard sometimes and people are annoying, but we can’t get overwhelmed. We have to overcome. So on Friday night I pulled myself together and got into formation, and that started with full face glam makeup.
I knew it was time to get it together when I went to Starbucks for an afternoon coffee. The caring, and shady, barista said “You look like you’ve been having a bad day. This one is on me”. Although it was a kind gesture, I couldn’t help but fixate on her basically telling me I don’t look good. I was slightly offended and also embarrassed, but deep down I knew she was right. My passive-aggressive boss, and repeatedly canceled dinner dates, has been making me feel like there is something wrong with me. I’m typically pretty confident, but feelings of not getting anything right and not finding love have been weighing on me. And because I’ve been wallowing in self-pity I didn’t realize how much of a mess I looked. Thanks to the barista, this weekend I was going to remind myself, and the world, of exactly who I am.
I wiped the dust off of my favorite makeup products and got to work on my best glam makeup look. This includes a foundation that makes my skin look absolutely flawless with no filter needed.
