The word modesty is defined as “the quality of not being too proud or confident about yourself or your abilities”. I say to hell with that. I get the necessary importance of humility, but you can be humble without dimming your light. We’re all taught that our presence here on this Earth is of divine uniqueness, yet we shouldn’t be too proud. That’s a contradicting message that I no longer want to accept. I’m special, one-of-a-kind, and bodacious with a dope soul. Like Megan Thee Stallion I’m not going to apologize for exuding confidence. And like Lizzo it took me a while to get here, so I’m damn sure going to boast about it.

CHOOSE SELF-LOVE LIKE LIZZO
Let’s be real; self-love is a journey. Even if confidence and high self-esteem were instilled into your childhood, various life encounters and situations can still rattle it. People can be mean, and society has a way of telling us we don’t have value because of our differences. And sometimes the things closest to home hurt our hearts and self-image the most. In an interview with NPR, Lizzo recalls a pivotal turning point in her life where she chose confidence and self-love. She details how she didn’t let her friend teasing her with a nickname damage her esteem. Instead she chose to use that experience as fuel for how she would love herself despite how others treated her. We have to consciously drown the outside noise and choose to love ourselves. You know who are. And once you’ve grasped that no one’s opinion of you is a part of your heavenly purpose, nothing can stop you.
“But I remember when he would call me that, and we were friends, I was like you know what I’m not going to let this offend me. I’m going to take this as a compliment and just live my . . . life”

DON’T APOLOGIZE FOR BEING CONFIDENT LIKE MEGAN THEE STALLION
Once you complete the journey into self-love and uber confidence, there’s no way in hell you shouldn’t exude it. It’s a feat and you should be proud of that. You should also be proud of the unique qualities and talents that only you possess. Nobody is built like you, so wear them proudly. We were all placed in this universe for a reason, and the world is a better place with you here. Society’s warped views preach modesty as a badge of honor, when confidence should be the ultimate goal. Take a cue from Megan Thee Stallion who drips confidence and spews it in her music. If your gift intimidates others, you’re using it right.
” I just want [the fans] to feel as good as me and know that there’s nothing wrong with being unapologetically themselves.”

Lizzo and Megan Thee Stallion are prime examples of unapologetically owning who you are and loving yourself. Examples used for motivational purposes only. You have to dig deep and find your own confidence, and make sure it’s unwavering and exuberant. And once you find it, don’t be afraid to toot your own horn. You’re lit.
