HOW TO MAKE FEELING GOOD AT HOME A PRIORITY

Have you ever played the Sims computer game where the home aesthetics affect the characters mood? Well, that applies in real life too. If my home is a bland, drab mess, my attitude is a mess too. Your home should be your sanctuary. It’s where your most intimate and special moments happen, and where you go to escape the outside world. And there’s no way you can feel good as hell anywhere if you don’t feel that way at home first. Fill it with things that make you feel the coziest and happiest. Make feeling good at home a priority.

SELF CARE STARTS AT HOME

I like to think of my home as a personal spa. It’s where I go to detox from the stressors of the day. It’s where I run to when I need to rest and recharge. Home is the only place I can light some candles, slap on a face mask and eat a bowl of pasta while it dries without being judged. Simply put, home is where I take care of me.  I’m happiest at home, and I purposely made it that way. I took steps to fill it with feel-good beauty products, the coziest blankets, the slippers that feel like clouds, the plants that bring life to my living room, and the sometimes needed comfort foods. Every little thing I filled my home with has been intentional to make it the ultimate oasis for me. I feel good at home, and I’m happier because of it.

REDECORATING IS A NECESSARY EXPENSE

Have you ever tried to redecorate a little and end up spending your whole budget on just one room?  So then you stop because choosing the perfect rug is a drain on your mind, and your wallet too. But have you also noticed how you feel when you step into that fully redecorated, refreshed room? It’s priceless, and brings a brand new level of peace and satisfaction. Decorating is an investment into your personal sanctuary. You’re feeling good at home because your usual space has been reinvigorated, which serves as a life lesson as well.  In order to grow you may have to make a few stressful, costly tweaks, but the end result is bliss and well worth it.

DECLUTTER YOUR HOME, CLEAR YOUR MIND

Home has to be the place where you can empty your thoughts and cleanse your soul. I don’t know about you, but I can’t do that when my house is full of clutter.  When I need to relax there can’t be chaos around me, and I when I say my nightly prayers there can’t be messy distractions. Feeling good at home is necessary, so it’s a must to take time to tidy up and put things in order. Clean your home, and thus in the words of En Vogue, free your mind and the rest will follow.

There aren’t many spaces in the world that belong just to you, so prioritize making your home the most special. Practice self-care daily at home, consistently reenergize your space, and keep it clutter free. And then take note of how much lighter and happier you feel, sis.
