Woman sniffing white flowers for aromatherapy.

Sometimes the simple things really do make all the difference. I have a way of over-complicating life in many areas, but I’ve come to realize that things that make me the happiest aren’t that complicated at all. So I’m trying to bridge the gap between what I think I need, and what I actually need. And that’s a mind, body, and spirit type of journey. One way I’m doing this is by introducing little things into my everyday life, so that self-care becomes an everyday practice. Simple things like lighting my favorite candle, using my special occasion perfume on a normal day, or keeping the flowers in my vase fresh. Don’t underestimate how healing a satisfying scent can be. Essentially, aromatherapy is one of those simple things that can make you happy. And adding aromatherapy to your self-care and skincare routine isn’t complicated at all.

Scents, particularly those from essential oils and other plant compounds, can have many remedial benefits. As told in a article, The National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy (NAHA) defines aromatherapy as “the therapeutic application or the medicinal use of aromatic substances (essential oils) for holistic healing.” We know that our minds and bodies are connected, and aromatherapy is a perfect example of that. To make things simple, liken it to how the smell of cookies baking makes you smile and draws you into the kitchen. But more sophisticatedly, aromatherapy and essential oils engage your olafactory senses and sends signals to your brain’s limbic system. The limbic system is the part of your brain that controls your emotions and behaviors. And studies and historical uses have shown that the aromas of essential oils have many healing benefits for your body and mind.

The list of essential oils is long, and so are the benefits that come with them. Each type of essential oil, such as lavender or geranium, comes with its own unique benefits. But as a whole essential oils and aromatherapy can help relieve stress and anxiety, boost your energy, balance your hormones, improve concentration, calm pain and irritations, relax you to sleep, and so on. So adding aromatherapy to your self-care routine really makes it complete.

Many beauty and self-care products harness the power of aromatherapy by incorporating essential oils and other plant extracts. And thus you can add aromatherapy to your self-care routine in a variety of ways. You can use essential oils and aromatherapy applied topically, through inhalation, and by releasing it into the air. And this list of beauty and self-care products makes utilizing aromatherapy simple for you.
